FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of research of natural and synthetic diamonds and can be used to identify and separate natural diamonds from diamond simulations, to separate natural diamonds from synthetic ones and to identify controversial type IIa diamonds, which may have been thermobarically treated in order to improve color. Inventive device for identification of diamond contains two sources of radiation: a deuterium lamp and a laser with a wavelength of 405 nm. Radiation from these sources that have passed through uncut or cut diamond is recorded with a spectrometer. Device is also equipped with a notch filter I/O mechanism between the collimating lenses of the receiving optical fiber, the guiding radiation, which passed through the diamond sample and left it, to the spectrometer, which is connected to the microprocessor controller, producing analysis and interpretation of the data.
EFFECT: development of a compact mobile device that provides effective identification of cut and uncut diamonds.
