FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: on working surfaces of cutting tool double-layer coating is applied with vacuum-plasma method. As bottom layer nitride of titanium, zirconium and molybdenum is applied, which contains 2.2-2.5% of molybdenum, and as top layer nitride of titanium, zirconium and molybdenum is applied, which contains 4.6-4.8% of molybdenum. Application of coating is implemented with application of three evaporators, which are installed in horizontal plane, from which two opposite ones contain titanium and zirconium, and evaporator installed between them contains titanium and molybdenum. All three cathodes are used in application of bottom layer, and in application of top layer one of cathodes that contains zirconium is not used.
EFFECT: increase of cutting tool operability and quality of its processing.
