FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: procedure consists in vacuum-plasma application of two-layer coating containing lower layer out of complex titanium nitride, zirconium and iron and of upper layer out of complex titanium nitride, zirconium and molybdenum. Coating is applied by means of three cathodes arranged in horizontal plane. Cases of the cathodes are fabricated out of titanium alloy BT1-0 with an insertion. The first cathode is made with the insertion out of stainless steel, the second one - with the insertion out of molybdenum, while the third one positioned between them is made with the insertion out of zirconium. At sedimentation of the lower layer there is used the cathode with the insertion out of stainless steel together with the cathode with the insertion out of zirconium. At sedimentation of the upper layer there is used the cathode with the insertion out of molybdenum together with the cathode with the insertion out of zirconium.
EFFECT: raised operability of cutting tool and upgraded quality of processing.
