FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of stress relief in thick plates made of aluminium alloy. A plate made of aluminium alloy heat-treated is received, tempered on solid solution, which has a thickness at least 5 inches. It has to have the longest edge and may not have the second length edge. Then it is made stress relief in mentioned plate by compression of this plate at degree of permanent deformation from 0.5% till 5% lengthways it's longest edge in the line of L or it's second length edge in the line of T. That plate edge which is compressed exceeds it's thickness not less than two times and not more than eight times.
EFFECT: there are received plates possessed low level of residual stress by thickness of plate what allows to reduce skellering after mechanical operation.
