FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to aluminium alloys used for military purposes, namely to ageing methods of aluminium alloys to achieve improved ballistic characteristics. The proposed method involves selection of a criterion at least of one ballistic characteristic, preparation of an item for ageing, determination of an underageing degree of a thermally strengthened aluminium alloy along an ageing curve depending on the selected criterion, and an ageing process with the specified underageing degree.
EFFECT: method allows obtaining items from aluminium alloys with high ballistic characteristics.
