FIELD: physics; measurements.
SUBSTANCE: invention pertains to penetrant flaw detection and can be used in aviation, space, automobile, ship-building and other fields of machine building, as well as in energy, chemical and atomic industry, for exposing surface defects during precision product control. The essence of the invention lies in that, the liquid developer for coloured penetrant flaw detection contains a film-forming substance, pigment, solvent and a plasticiser. The film-forming substance is "ВВ" type colloxylin, the pigment is white expanded "СВП" paste, the solvent is a specially selected on polarity and boiling temperature of mixture of the following solvents: butyl acetate, acetone, butanol, ethanol and ethyl acetate. The plasticiser is dialkyl ether of phtalic acid with 4-8 atoms of carbon in the alkyl group. Components of the developer are taken in a defined ratio.
EFFECT: invention is the increased sensitivity, prevention of corrosion of the material of the object, improved plasticity and adhesion of the film of the proposed developer, prevention of its cracking and peeling from the surface of the test objects, increased opaqueness and whiteness, improved quality control.
