FIELD: physics, measurements.
SUBSTANCE: invention pertains to coloured flaw detection and can be used in aviation, space, automobile, ship-building and other fields of machine building, as well as in energy, chemical and atomic industry, for exposing surface defects during precision product control. The penetrant for coloured penetrant flaw detection consists of an organic dye and solvent. At least one dark-red organic dye is used, which a bis-azo dye, containing in its structure, on the second position of the naphthalene ring, a hydroxy group, and in the phenyl rings, at least two methyl groups, and/or bis-azo dye, containing on the second position of the naphthalene ring, an ethylamino group, with increased brightness and colour intensity, as well as increased solubility in non-polar organic solvents. The organic solvent is a mixture of cyclohexanone, butyl acetate and ethyl acetate with a defined ratio of components.
EFFECT: obtaining a penetrant for coloured penetrant flaw detection.
