FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention concerns containers for transportation and/or storage of spent and failed fuel elements and/or failed fuel element rods. The container includes a case (1), internal cavity (2) with discharge basket (3) within for fuel element rods. The discharge basket (3) is assembled of neutron-capturing light metal slabs connected by insertion joints and forming discharge pits (4) with metal shells (5) fit into them. At least one metal shell (5) is used as a tube case (6) for direct placement of failed fuel elements and/or rods of such elements.
EFFECT: possibility to transport and store spent and failed fuel elements and failed fuel element rods simultaneously.
