FIELD: nuclear power engineering and atomic industry. SUBSTANCE: method for storage of irradiated nuclear fuel involves separation of submarine non-reactor compartment from its other compartments, disposition of irradiated nuclear fuel in this compartment before or after its separation, afloat movement of compartment to reservoir in the form of trench or passage communicating with sea, and separation of reservoir from sea. Alternative method involves separation of submarine non-reactor compartment from its other compartments, afloat movement of separated compartment to reservoir communicating with sea, separation of reservoir from sea, its drying out, and disposition of irradiated nuclear fuel in separated compartment before or after its separation. EFFECT: enhanced environmental friendliness, facilitated storage and enhanced amount of irradiated fuel stored, improved its physical protection. 8 cl
