FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention concerns devices of anti-icing systems intended for aircraft protection from icing and prevention of its catastrophic consequences. Icing indicator includes modulator driving optical emitter which, through transfer light guide, polariser, optically transparent heated blister of emitter, optically transparent blister of photodetector with regulated heating, analyser and a receiving light guide is optically coupled with photodetector. Polarisation plane of the analyser is turned 90° relative to polarisation plane of the polariser. Input of signal processing block is connected to output of the photodetector, its output being connected to control unit input. The control unit input is connected at the same time to input of icing indicator, regulated heater input of the photodetector and to input of icing intensity measuring device.

EFFECT: indicator provides highly accurate registration of moments of icing start and termination points and evaluation of icing intensity.
