FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention concerns plant gene engineering. A plant with increased content of 2-oxoglutarate (2-OG) is cultivated. Increased content of 2-OG is achieved either by expression of GDH or ECASPC gene introduced to the plant or by spraying plant leaves with praline. It allows cultivation of plants with improved growth rate and/or yield under limited nitrogen level.
EFFECT: cultivation of plants at improved growth rate under limited nitrogen level.
