FIELD: radio technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention pertains to radar measurements and can be used for controlling characteristics of direction pattern of a phased antenna array (PHAA) with discrete control of phases of the exciting current of emitters using p-bit semiconductor phase shifters. The essence of the invention lies in that, to determine characteristics of the direction pattern of a PHAA, low frequency control is carried out at the same time as microwave control. For this, the opening of the PHAA is broken into J squares with sides equal to within a circle with radius 4λ-m',n'.The emitters are randomly controlled as well as control channels adjacent to them, numbered and which are centres of the described circles. If as a result of microwave control of these emitters, the A0i parameters are less than their standard values Asti, then successive microwave control is carried out and the amplitude and phase of the exciting currents are stored as well as coordinates m, n (where m is a number of rows, n is a number of columns) of emitters, located on the j-circle with radius 4λ. With defined coordinates m', n' of emitters, characterising the least difference between parameters Asti and A0i, microwave control of the amplitude and phase of emitter exciting currents is carried out for emitters on a circle with radius 4λ and centre at a point with coordinates m', n'. These emitters would have not undergone microwave control in the preceding procedure.
EFFECT: increased reliability of controlling characteristics of a direction pattern of a phased antenna array.
