METHOD OF BUILT-IN CONTROL OVER CHARACTERISTICS OF PHASED ARRAY Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: radio engineering. SUBSTANCE: for determination of characteristics of radiation pattern of phased array method of built-in control employs SHF control of radiators and control channels connected to them in each of L=2^P their states by way of amplitude modulation of field of phased array by sequential change of all states of phase inverters controlled by control channels. In each state ratio of maximum value of amplitude of field of phased array to minimum one A_0i and phase shift ΔФ_i with maximum value of amplitude are determined and compared with reference values A_ref.i and ΔФ_ref.i. Control is carried out without radar being taken out of standard condition during time intervals that are beyond limits of gated range. Faulty radiators and control channels are detected, subjected to SHF control. Parameters A_0i, exposed during SHF control whose values are below values A_ref.i, are employed to evaluate effect of faulty radiators under which phase inverters of all radiators positioned in circle whose radius equals 2-4 lengths of wave from controlled radiator are re-phased. Parameters A_0i and ΔФ_i, are found in each state by way of SHF control, are compared with reference values A_ref.i and ΔФ_ref.i, differences between values A_0i and ΔФ_i, A_ref.i and ΔФ_ref.i are taken into account in process of modeling of radiation pattern of phased array.
