SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ophthalmology and can be used for performing vitreotomia. First, hollow cannulae with diameter less than 0.5 mm are introduced into vitreal cavity. Into them irrigator, aspirator and vitreotom are introduced. By separation of posterior hyaloid membrane in vitreal cavity zone, filled with irrigational solution, is formed. Tip of vitreotom is placed on the border of separated vitreous body and zone filled with irrigational solution, and vitrectomia is performed. Forward-backward movements are made with vitreotom tip, descending it into zone filled with irrigational solution, and returning it back into vitreous body. Thus, inside vitreotom two-component mixture, consisting of fragments of vitreous body and particles of irrigational solution, is formed.
EFFECT: ensuring quick and efficient removal of vitreous body during operation of vitrectomia.
