FIELD: electric engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method provides determination of the area related to red eye, its orientation, detection of the second eye availability on the face of photographed subject, at that if the second eye has not been detected, then colour of the first eye pupil is corrected and method is completed, then colour of the second detected eye pupil is detected, colour of the first eye pupil is corrected, replacing colour of red dots for the colour of the second eye pupil, if the colour of the second eye pupil is not red, or colour of both eyes pupils are corrected, replacing colour of red dots for the same dark colour, if the colour of the second eye pupil is red. At that area that is related to red eye is detected automatically, recording colour mark into marks array, for every point of image filtering with four directed filters of borders detection, connected domains of points are determined and fixed criteria are calculated, on the basis of which connected domains of points are classified into areas of red eyes and false areas.
EFFECT: development of semi-automatic or fully automatic method of red eye effect elimination, which accounts for differences in eyes hues in correction without operator experience.
