FIELD: optoelectronic instrument making, detection measuring and information equipment, biology. SUBSTANCE: the method consists in irradiation of the space volume under examination by pulse scanning radiation within 450 to 760 nm of the electromagnetic spectrum, reception of the reflected scanning radiation, at least two measurements of the radiant energy reflected from the space volume under examination, each within wavelengths 450 to 500 nm and 500 to 750 nm - qb1,qg1 and qb2,qg2, and respectively determination of the presence of people and animals in the space volume under examination is determined by the presence of rhodospin by comparison of relations and between each other - at k2≠k1 rhodospin is present, at k2 = k1 ehodospin is absent. During the respective period of action of the radiant pulse at least two frames of video image measuring mxn pixels of the space volume under examination may be additionally performed by means of a digital color video camera, determination of the presence of people and animals in the space volume under examination by the presence of rhodospin is accomplished by comparison of the relations of the values of luminances of the blue and green spectra of similar pixels respectively of the first K1m,n and second K2m,n frames of video image - at K1m,n≠K2m,n rhodospin is present, at K1m,n= K2m,n - rhodospin is absent, and the coordinates of the eyes of people and animals are determined from the values of "m" and "n" pixels, for which K1m,n≠K2m,n. Irradiation of the space volume under examination by scanning radiation of the visible electromagnetic spectrum may be accomplished at the minimum probable distance to the optical axis of reception of reflected radiation providing for the maximum intensification of the "red eye" effect. Irradiation of the space volume under examination by pulse scanning radiation may be accomplished by means of a color digital photographic camera, photography by a color digital photographic camera, photography by a color digital photographic chamber for the time of exposure by a flash bulb at least two photographs are made in the spectra of 450-570 nm and 520-760 nm. EFFECT: provided probability of identification objects such as the eyes of a human-being or animal, determination of their exact location in the volume under examination, as well as possibility of dynamic correction in real time of the images of the detected objects. 4 cl, 2 dwg
