FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: securing of electrode to electric holder is performed by means of split connection in form of detachable screw clamp consisting of at least two segments fastened with captive ring for securing of consumable electrode to head of electric holder and claw nut screwed onto electric holder. A groove with a spherical surface is cut in electrode; an inside surface of the lower bracket of the screw-clamp contacts with this spherical surface, while an inside surface of the upper bracket of the screw clamp contacts the claw nut. There is installed an insert between the electric holder and electrode; the said insert is made with flat and spherical surfaces; with its flat surface the insert contacts the electrode, while with its spherical surface it contacts the head of the electric holder. The insert and the head of the electric holder are fabricated out of material temperature coefficient of expansion of which is higher than temperature coefficient of expansion of screw clamp material.

EFFECT: invention provides using of split securing device which fixes positions of mould, electrode and electric holder against each other, which excludes auxiliary operations of vacuumising, of electrode welding to electric holder, de-vaccumising, cleaning and control over welding zone, and also invention reduces time loss for cooling of welding zone.
