FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: when forming quadratic envelopes of the radio location signal of radio frequency sources in a synthesis interval, on the basis of which the location of the radio frequency is determined, choice of the synthesis interval is made from the interval on which coherence of the radio frequency source signal (or its separate spectral components) and the reference signal is retained. In that case phase relationships of the radio frequency source signal and the reference signal are retained on the whole synthesis interval. To provide for the given coherence the current spectrum of the radio frequency source signal is determined and the spectral component, intensity of which considerably exceeds the spectral level of noise, is separated, and the synthesis interval is matched with the life span of that component. By analogy with active location this can be viewed as a method of synthesising a passive antenna system with considerable increase in accuracy of determining coordinates.

EFFECT: increased accuracy of determining coordinates of radio location of radio frequency sources.
