The optical fibre has a core and a fibre shield around the core, in which polarisation modal dispersion, measured using the method of measuring polarisation modal dispersion (PMD) of optical fibre, is equal to or less than The fibre optical cable, in which there are several covered optical fibres, has a protective layer around the optical fibre and is placed side by side. The covered optical fibres are put into the cable shield.

EFFECT: design of a method of measuring polarisation modal dispersion of optical fibre, through which polarisation modal dispersion of optical fibre can be evaluated after assembling into an optical cable, when the fibre is wound into a coil for transportation.
