METHOD FOR INTEGRATED ASSESSMENT OF REPRODUCTIVE VALUES IN BREEDING SOWS Russian patent published in 2008 - IPC A01K67/02 

FIELD: cattle breeding.

SUBSTANCE: method presupposes assessment of the animal by index taking into consideration multifetation of the sow (heads), milk capacity (kg), number of piglets at weaning time (heads) and weight of the nest at piglets weaning (kg). Whereat weight of the nest and number of piglets at weaning are calculated for the ages of 30-60 days inclusively. Real variable weight coefficient of the nest weight at weaning (K) received by extrapolative method for every piglets age period is also taken into account. Index of reproductive value (IRV) of breed sows is calculated from the expression: IRQ=1.1·x₁+0.3·x₂+3.3·x₃+K·x₄ where: IRQ - index of reproductive value of the breeding sow, points; x₁ - multifetation, heads; x₂ - milk capacity, kg; x₃ - number of piglets at weaning, kg; K - weight coefficient of the weight of nest at weaning. Whereat sow with IRV below mean IRV value in herdmates is considered unsatisfactory by reproductive values. Breeding sow with IRV equal to the similar mean value in herdmates is considered to be satisfactory, IRV above the mean value in herdmates - to be good by reproductive qualities, offspring of such a sow are selected for breeding purposes.

EFFECT: increases reliability of assessment reproductive values of breeding sows at different periods of piglets weaning.
