FIELD: textile.

SUBSTANCE: method of mechanical cottonising of flax fiber includes garneting, multiple combing and treating with water solution. Fiber is treated with water solution prior to garneting. Water solution is an enzymatic agent solution selected from xylanase, pectinase, cellulase and laccase group having 15-50 units/ml activity at the following weight ratio of enzyme solution: flax fiber 1:2. Period of treatment is 120-140 min with further drying of treated flax fiber with hot air.

EFFECT: improvement of flax fiber quality.
