FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: present invention pertains to transportation safety systems, particularly pipelines, as well as storehouses of various products, particularly chemical substances, and can be used in systems designed for detecting leakages, which use fibre-optic sensitive cables. The invention is aimed at increasing reliability of the cable and the whole system of detecting product leakage as well as detection of small leakages. This outcome is achieved due to that, the sensitive optical cable of the system contains optical fibre, coated by material which changes its volume when it comes into contact with the monitored product. The optical fibre also has a reinforcement member, a protective perforated shell and an absorbent material, adjoining the shell made from material which changes its volume when in contact with the monitored product. The absorbent material is put in such a way that provides for absorbing the leaking product at a certain distance from the cable and its transportation to the above mentioned shell.
EFFECT: increased reliability of the cable and the whole system of detecting product leakages as well as small leakages.
