FIELD: physics; measurements.

SUBSTANCE: present invention can be used in many fields of science and technology, particularly when solving various types of ecological problems, when making superclean-space rooms, and when controlling a dispersed phase for targeted drug delivery in respiratory organs. The method involves passing a gas (or mixture of gases), containing the analysed particles, through reticulated diffusion batteries, putting them into supersaturated vapours of a volatile coagulating substance, condensation of the vapours on particle nuclei with formation of an aerosol, the concentration of which is determined using a flash apparatus. Before condensation, the gas stream is simultaneously passed through the diffusion battery and then through a reference channel, allowing for change in concentration of the aerosol directly during measurement, and the breakthrough of particles through the diffusion battery is measured - the fraction of particles passing through the battery without precipitation based on the readings of the reference channel. The spectrum of the particle dimensions is calculated, using the gamma distribution of particles on mobility and solving a system of non-linear algebraic equations. The device for implementing the method contains diffusion batteries, coagulation device, recording flash apparatus, a computer and a thermostatic switch.

EFFECT: simpler calculation and increased accuracy of measurements.
