FIELD: instrument engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to instrument-making, and more specifically to methods of determining particle size distribution function in nanometer range. Interferometric method of determining particle size distribution function is based on analysis of changes in both amplitude and phase relationships of interferograms obtained before and after introduction of aerosol or particle suspension into interferometer working volume. Particles of the aerosol or suspension change the complex refraction index of the medium in which the particles are suspended, which in turn leads to a change in the amplitude and phase of the probing electromagnetic radiation.

EFFECT: wider range of dimensions of measured particles and reduced error in measurement thereof.
