FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: perform ultrasonic Doppler sonography of the inferior mesenteric artery (IMA). Estimate diameter of IMA, the form of the Doppler curve, peak systolic rate (Vmax), final diastolic rate of a blood flow (Vmin), resistance index (RI), oscillatory index (PI). At value Vmax in the range of 30-71.5 cm/sec, Vmin in the range of 0.08-12.8 cm/sec, RI in the range of 0.7-0.98, PI in the range of 0.15-7.1, define the main type of an anatomic structure of IMA; at value Vmax less than 30 cm/sec, Vmin less than 5 cm/sec, RI in the range of 0.7-0.98, PI in the range of 0.15-7.1 or impossibility to visualise the blood flow in IMA, define a loose type of the IMA structure.
EFFECT: method is simple, non-invasive, allows estimating type of an anatomic structure of IMA in the absence of a radial load on the patient.
