FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of alkylation of phenols, which have, at least, one hydrogen atom in ortho-position relative to hydroxyl group, with terpene cyclic alcohols with heating in presence of catalyst is carried out. As catalyst of process of phenol alkylation with terpene cyclic alcohols, organoaluminium compounds, selected from group of phenoxides or alkoxides of aluminium of non-symmetric (mixed) or symmetric (full) type, are used, molar ratio of phenol to alcohol 1 : 1. Suggested method allows to alkylate phenols with cyclic terpene alcohols selectively.
EFFECT: obtained terpenphenols are widely used in different branches of industry as anti-oxidants and as initial components in synthesis of surface-active and aromatic substances, syntones for obtaining physiologically active preparations.
