FIELD: organic chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of organic chemistry, namely to a method for the production of N-isobornylaniline. The method includes interaction of aniline with an alkylating agent in the presence of a catalyst. Camphene is used as the alkylating agent. Alkylation of aniline with camphene is carried out at their molar ratio equal to (1-5):(1-2), respectively, when heating to 80-180°C for 1-10 hours. As the catalyst, aluminum chloride (AlCl3), or aluminum phenolate (C6H5O)3Al, or boron trifluoride ether (BF3·(C2H5)2O), or trifluoroacetic acid (CF3COOH) are used in amount of 1-100 wt.% to amount of initial aniline. The process is carried out in one stage.
EFFECT: proposed method allows for alkylation of aniline with camphene in the presence of homogenous catalysts and obtainment of N-isobornylaniline with the yield of up to 90%, provides synthesis, using available compounds, with reduction in a reaction time.
