FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of allylation of phenols, which have one hydrogen atom in ortho-position with respect to hydroxyl group, is carried out with terpene allyl alcohol with heating in presence of catalyst. As catalyst of alkylation process organo-aluminium compounds, selected from group of alkoxides of aluminium of asymmetric (mixed) or symmetric (full) type, are used, molar ratio of phenol to alcohol being 1:1. Obtained prenylphenols are widely used as physiologically acive substances.
EFFECT: obtaining prenylated phenols with high yield and content of ortho-prenylphenols.
