FIELD: test engineering.
SUBSTANCE: present invention pertains to apparatus for testing hermeticity of products using inert gases. A stream of gas mixture is formed at the inlet of a vacuum adsorption pump, with pumping rate of a defined inert gas lower than the pumping rate of the other components of the gas mixture, and the partial pressure of the inert gas is determined at the outlet of the vacuum adsorption pump. After measuring concentration of the inert gas in the gas mixture, the inlet of the vacuum adsorption pump is closed. The gas mixture is pumped out using another vacuum pump, with pumping rate of the gas mixture not lower than the rate of pumping the gas mixture using the vacuum adsorption pump. During successive measurement of the concentration of inert gas in a gas mixture, the inlet of the other vacuum pump is closed, after which the inlet of the vacuum adsorption pump is opened.
EFFECT: reduced labour input on testing due to failure of continuous testing for restoring characteristics of the vacuum adsorption pump.
