FIELD: communications.
SUBSTANCE: proposal is given of a data interface for transferring digital data between a host and a client on a communication channel using packet structures, joined to each other for generating a communication protocol for transferring a pre-determined set of digital control and presentation data. The signal protocol is used by channel controllers, which can generate, transfer and receive packets, which form the communication protocol, and for generation of digital data in form of one or several types of data packets. At least one of the data packets is in the host device and is connected to the client through a communication channel. The interface provides for a two-way, high-speed mechanism of transferring data on a short-range serial communication line.
EFFECT: increased efficiency and transmission capacity of communication channels.
