SUBSTANCE: invention relates to encoding and decoding, in particular of subtitles. Disclosed is a subtitle encoding device comprising a control scheme which is capable of receiving a file in PNG format, with the PNG file containing image data and a palette comprising a reference colour palette; converting the reference colour palette to the reference colour palette definition segment; saving the image data as a block of pixel data and encoding the reference colour palette and pixel data block segment as subtitles in the image.
EFFECT: creation of subtitles in the format of portable network graphics (PNG) to make transformation thereof as simple and convenient as possible.
