FIELD: physics; radio.
SUBSTANCE: present invention pertains to AM-signal processing, in particular, to methods and devices for demodulating AM-signals. The method of processing an AM-radio signal, with an upper sideband and a lower sideband, involves reception of the AM-radio signal and demodulation in the upper sideband and lower sideband. The noise power of signals demodulated in the upper and lower sidebands is determined through cross-correlation between the quadrature component of the upper sideband demodulated signal and the upper sideband demodulated signal, and cross-correlation between the quadrature component of the lower sideband demodulated signal and the demodulated lower sideband signal respectively. The demodulated upper and lower sideband signals are weighted depending on power. The weighted demodulated upper and lower sideband signals are summed up to generate the output signal.
EFFECT: increased noise immunity during reception of AM-signals.
