SELF-PROPELLED SEMI- SUBMERSIBLE OCEANOLOGICAL RESEARCH PLATFORM AND METHOD FOR ITS USE Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC B63B35/44

Abstract RU 2343084 C2

FIELD: transport.

SUBSTANCE: platform looks like semi- submersible catamaran consisting of above-water platform resting on two rows of hollow columns with stabilisation plates established on pontoons interconnected with each other by two rows of hollow biplane horizontal-lateral stiffening ribs installed in different horizontal planes offset in relation of each other. Each pontoon equipped with azimuthal full revolving propulsion-steering complex is separated by water-tight bulkheads into five compartments two of which serve as tanks for intake of shifted ballast and central compartment - for placement of fixed ballast represented by storage battery. In way of midship frame H-shaped signal mast is installed consisting of side vertical staffs and horizontal platform and supporting mast with scientific instrumentation, navigation, radio, telesearch and transmitting equipment. In centre of above-water platform supporting wind-electric tower is installed. Around supporting tower solar battery is located. At bow edge of above-water platform deep-water winch is installed for performing operations with underwater container and electric-driven cable rope reel for operations with floating ellipse-shaped container with underwater scientific instrumentation.

EFFECT: decrease of water displacement, specific quantity of metal per structure, power consumption, increase of steerability, sea endurance, and cruising range, decrease of manufacturing and operation costs, capability of complex research of ocean at various depths, operational monitoring of sea pollution by oil and other substances, and protection of biological resources from poachers.
