SUBSTANCE: invention relates to volume displacement engines. Engine with external heat input includes cylinder with piston forming working chamber, heat input facility, i.e. heater, and heat sink facility, i.e. cooler and distributing mechanism. Distributing mechanism is located in cylinder head and may be implemented as spool-type displacer. The spool-type displacer includes housing with opposite to each other heat input, i.e. heater and heat sink, i.e. cooler. There is cylindrical rotary spool with grooved part of side surface, which forms displacing space. Displacing space is linked with working chamber by annular channel. The grade measure of the central angle in cylindrical spool base circle is less than 180°. The groove forming displacing space is situated inside cylindrical spool. The depth is a defining radial size of displacing space, which is less than its length defining longitudinal dimensions. The volume of displacing chamber is less than working chamber volume.
EFFECT: simplification of engine design and reduction of engine weight and dimensions.
