FIELD: physics, communications.
SUBSTANCE: adjustable electrical tilt system is designed as composed of an array of antenna elements. The system is equipped with a separator splitting the carrier waveform radiofrequency signal into two signals with the adjustable phaser providing for insertion of a variable phase shift between them. Additional separators further split the signals to have already undergone relative phase shit into sets of five signals each. Four of the five signals composing a set undergo vector integration within a circuit consisting of hybrid bifurcations inserting 180° phase shifts. The above operations result in generation of vector sum and difference components which, alongside with the previously mentioned signals included in the quinary sets, are transmitted to the relevant fixed phasers. The phasers generate signals properly phased for actuation of the phased antenna array with relevant elements. Through adjustment of the only phase shift being inserted by the adjustable phaser electrical tilt angle of the whole antenna array is modified.
EFFECT: proposal of alternative form of the phased antenna array system.
