SUBSTANCE: invention deals with methods of estimating noise dispersion in a wireless communication system. Noise dispersion estimate envisages the following: receipt of signal (402) containing an OFDM-symbol whose in-band and marginal tones include in-band pilot tones and marginal pilot tones and guard tones; estimation of effective noise dispersion with the in-band tones (702) through the in-band pilot tones and channel estimations for the in-band pilot tones; estimation of effective noise dispersion with the marginal tones (704) through the marginal pilot tones and channel estimations for the marginal pilot tones and the guard tones.
EFFECT: improvement of demodulation process due to thermal noise being taken into consideration with a single or multiple antenna(s).
