FIELD: data processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to discrete information transmission and is intended for use in receiving devices of wireless transmission systems using the COFDM modulation. Method of a joint channel estimation and a soft demodulation for the COFDM signals is to jointly estimate the channel performance and to determine the log likelihood ratio (LLR) for the soft demodulation taking into account the variance estimate of the multiplicative channel estimation error. LLR values for the bitstream are calculated basing on the received modulation symbol values, the channel performance estimates, the additive noise variance estimates, and the multiplicative channel estimation error.
EFFECT: technical result of the invention is increasing the accuracy of channel estimation and demodulation efficiency by reducing the error probability.
