FIELD: transportation; rescue equipment.
SUBSTANCE: according to the proposed method, for 6-12 months in a seismic hazard-prone area, values of changes in magnetic or/and electric or/and gravitational field are measured and the moment the earthquake is expected to occur is determined. In the second equator system of coordinates vector Z, directed on the zenith, and vector V, of the speed of rotation of the seismic hazard-prone area together with the earth, are determined. For the given area, in the second equator system of coordinates, the region of hazardous directions are determined, comprising vector Ag of the first hazardous direction, with the following in the second equator system coordinates: inclination δ=36°±10° and right ascension α=293°±10°, and cone-shaped zone of vectors of the second hazardous direction, which is a zone encompassing vector Ag, bordered by two conical surfaces with apex angles of the conical surfaces equal to 90° and 110°, respectively. If, for a forecasted time period in an seismic hazard-prone area maximum change in magnetic, or/and electric or/and gravitational field of the earth is expected and vectors Z and V occupy one of the critical positions relative the region of critical directions, then it can be concluded that there is high seismic danger for the given area.
EFFECT: possibility of forecasting onset of earthquakes within a few hours to a few days.
