FIELD: power generation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to spraying of fluids and suspensions, e.g. coal-water fuel, and may be used to apply various coatings. Compressed air atomiser comprises an atomising nozzle at the end of fluid supplying pipe. The nozzle is an atomiser cone, with convex surface on the flow side. Encircling ring on the pipe below the gas nipple is shaped as a dome head converging to the body axis. Length of the head below gas nipple is approximatley equal to atomiser cone outlet diameter. Design provides for fluid stream spreading along the atomising cone walls with formation of thin film, fluid stream crossing the converging gas stream. Their interaction results in formation of gas-droplet flow. Atomiser contains no narrow fluid ducts. Fluid film thinning is provided due its spreading along the atomising cone walls. That is, no high pressure or fluid flow rate is required for successful operation of the atomiser, even in case of highly viscous fluid or suspension, which prevents abrasive wear.
EFFECT: compressed air atomiser with design of gas and fluid ducts providing for required dispersity of spraying of both low- and high-viscosity fluids and suspensions, with no rapid wear of equipment.
