FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method can be used at field repair of rails. Ends of rails are installed at the same level with formation between its butt ends welding clearance. Above rails ends there is marked in area of welding clearance split form and contact of split form is sealed with ends of rails. Above form it is installed reaction crucible with dose of aluminothermy composition. Before pouring of fused welded metal into split form it is implemented heating of rails ends and split form till the temperature from 1000° till 1500°C. During the casting fused welded metal into split form by it is filled welding clearance bottom-up with feeding of fused welded metal part into middle part of welding clearance after filling of its bottom part of split form. In the end of casting it is implemented additional heating of head end of rail and spread into welding clearance of fused welded metal till the temperature not less then 800°C by means of feeding of received portions of fused welded metal into space over heads of rails ends. In the capacity of coolant it is used air-to-water mixture with water content (20-50)%. Cooling is implemented with velocity (7-11) °C /sec till the temperature [("Мн" + 100) - "Мн"] °C.
EFFECT: method provides upgrading of welded joint at field conditions operation.
