FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for rigid long-term connection by aluminum-thermit welding of steel items, preferably, rails. Aluminum-thermit mixture for welding of steel items contains calcined iron scale, aluminium powder and alloying additives. As alloying additives there are used: ferromanganese and/or ferromolybdenum and/or ferronickel and/or ferrochromium, and/or ferrovanadium. Iron scale is preliminarily crushed and annealed for transfer of metal oxides to highest degree of oxidation. In the mixture there are used fractions of crushed and sintered iron scale, divided on sieves of 0.25 mm, 0.45 mm, 0.65 mm, mixed in a given ratio to obtain maximum thermal effect.

EFFECT: invention ensures a better quality of weld aluminum-thermit weld due to constancy of its composition.
