FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: ends of the rails are arranged in the split die with the clearance. Reaction crucible with extra flask containing the filler metal is arranged above said die. Said flask is preheated to 100-700°C. Then, aluminium-termite mix is loaded into the crucible to heat the ends of rails and split die for said mix to be ignited. Exothermal reaction of aforesaid mix heats the flask with the filler metal to be fused. Thereafter, fused filler metal is fed via drain cup into the die to fill the welding clearance. Said filler metal is cured to hardening and formation of the weld. Then, the weld and near-weld area are cooled, first, by compressed air jet to 250-300°C and, then, in air. Then, the weld riser is removed from the welded rail head. The ratio between the filler metal mass G1 and aluminium-termite mix mass G2 is set to Ga/G2 = 0.1-0.6.
EFFECT: higher quality of the weld and near-weld area.
