FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: nepheline containing raw materials are processed with sulphuric acid. Acid-soluble components are leached. Suspension is divided into liquid phase containing potassium alumina, sodium, and solid phase containing impurity minerals. Potassium chloride is added to liquid at temperature 45-70°C. Produced solution is cooled with crystallising potassium alum then separated from mother solution. Nepheline containing raw materials are processed and leached with 12-20% sulphuric acid within 5-20 min with transforming silica to liquid phase. Mother solution is dehydrated. Dehydration product is leached with water, thus transforming water-soluble components to solution. The latter is separated from silica residue which is flushed and dried thus producing fine-grained silicon dioxide.
EFFECT: improved method of potassium alum production.
