FIELD: mechanics.
SUBSTANCE: in compliance with proposed method, pipeline is divided into elements limited by welded mounting seams, bending strains are calculated for every element of the pipeline allowing for the height of the element above ground, pipeline longitudinal stresses are determined along with check pipeline sections with longitudinal expanding strains exceeding threshold values. Note that, in the said check sections, longitudinal stresses are measured by methods of non-destructive testing (NT). The material toughness characteristics are defined. Then, pipeline sections with intolerable defects of welded seams and/or material toughness characteristics in check sections are replaced. The longitudinal expanding strains are decreased by reducing bending strains via height adjustment or installation of additional supports along with simultaneous measurement of longitudinal strains in check section by NT methods.
EFFECT: higher reliability and lower costs of diagnostics, higher reliability of pipelines and their longer life.
