FIELD: physics, measurement.

SUBSTANCE: invention is related to the field of nondestructive check and may be used for detection of surface and subsurface cracks in ferromagnetic products. According to invention portable device for cracks detection in ferromagnetic products comprises body, measuring unit, processing unit, unit of power supply and indication unit. Measuring unit contains permanent magnet in the form of axisymmetric body with E-shaped longitudinal section. One or more detectors of magnetic field connected to processing unit are located between magnet poles. Device may contain shunting plate that closes poles of permanent magnet in device idle condition. Part of device on the side of measuring unit is closed with protective cap. Protective cap is arranged with holder. Indication unit comprises light indicator for display of depth and direction of crack and might contain sound indicator. Measuring unit may be arranged in the form of replaceable nozzle. Permanent magnet of measuring unit may be arranged so that its poles might contact convex or concave surface of control object.

EFFECT: development of device that has small dimensions and weight, is convenient to use and provides control of ferromagnetic products with indication of crack direction and depth.
