SUBSTANCE: present invention pertains to wireless communication systems. A general global gateway provides for authentication between a CDMA network and a GSM network, so that, a mobile station which is a subscriber in the GSM network can enter the CDMA network and its identity can be verified so that it can use the CDMA network. The general global network receives authentication parameters from the mobile station and determines whether the parameters satisfy authentication criteria of the general global gateway. During the authentication process, the mobile station switches into the "SMS only" (short message service) mode until it is unauthorised by the general global gateway. During the authentication process, there is verification of whether the general global network and the mobile station concur on the number of access times to the GSM network, and whether the mobile station has authorised access to the GSM network for a period of time.

EFFECT: provision for compatibility of protocols of different networks without changing fundamental architecture.
