SUBSTANCE: present invention pertains to pet food, particularly to food meant for weight loss in dogs and cats. The composition contains a source of feed for pet dogs or cats, which contains fat, and 20-100 wt % diacylglycerol. The method for weight loss in cats or dogs involves oral administration of the composition. The method of treating cats with hepatic steatosis also involves feeding the cat with this composition in an amount leading to normal liver function.
EFFECT: together with reducing weight of pets, the invention allows for maintaining their normal weight.
