SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of making cushions for cats, wherein the pads have density of 350 g/l ±5 % to 550 g/l ±5 %, including at least the following steps: providing ingredients of pads, including at least 2 % of exogenous fat, % in terms of total weight of ingredients of pads; at least partial pre-heat treatment of the ingredients of the pads in the preconditioner, wherein the ingredients stay time in the preconditioner is at least 2 minutes; extruding at least partially pre-thermally treated cushion ingredients in an extruder at an output flow rate through the extruder head surface (DSOR) of less than 350 mm2/metric ton of throughput capacity, where the DSOR is defined as the ratio of the sum of the open portions of the extruder head holes at the extruder outlet, in mm2, to the product flow rate at the extrusion head outlet, in mm2·h·ton-1, as well as drying the pellet extrudate.
EFFECT: use of the invention will make it possible to obtain pads with an attractive taste for cats, which will lead to increased consumption of cushions by a cat.
