FIELD: transport.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to railway transport and aims at perfecting DC electrical-braking electric rolling stock. Electric train DC traction drive incorporates pulse control circuitry and comprises a current collector, input throttle and pulse converters connected in series to overhead system. A contact of independent excitation shunted by a safety thyristor is connected in between traction drive armature and excitation windings. Pulse controller and armature windings are shunted by braking resistor and braking resistor connection contact. There is a diode connected in parallel to pulse controller and armature circuit linear contact pair, the diode cathode being connected to the pulse controller input and its anode being connected to the common input smoothing reactor and braking resistor connection contact.

EFFECT: reduced number of power elements, high-efficiency short-circuit protection in rheostatic and regenerative braking.
