FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to power generation and is designed to use wind power for electric power generation using vertical axial wind turbines. Windmills with vertical axis of rotation of the wind turbine comprise cylindrical units with stators acting as wind guide devices, given the wind blowing from different directions, and rotors that convert wind power into rotation of their shafts. The said cylindrical units are divided into tiers of identical or different height and diameters. The units rotors can run in opposite directions. Note that the lower unit rotor shaft features a tubular section for the upper unit rotor shaft to pass through. A part of the said tiers can have a rigid linkage with the shaft in starting the windmill and no linkage in operating conditions. Electric generator has a movable stator running in direction opposite to that of the rotor and furnished with a tubular shaft rotor linked up with the lower unit tubular shaft. The generator rotor shaft arranged inside the stator tubular shaft is linked up with the upper unit shaft.
EFFECT: higher factor of utilising wind power, simpler design, smaller sizes and weight of used generators.
